This year’s preconference is designed to give an overview of reproductive psychiatry, developed in partnership with the International Society for Reproductive Psychiatry (ISRP). You will leave this pre-conference with an expanded knowledge of women’s health and reproductive psychiatry throughout the lifespan.

Topics to be covered:
· Review of basic hormone and neurotransmitter physiology and impact on mental health
· Managing mental Health through the transition to motherhood
· Treatment Options across the Perinatal period
· Assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders during pregnancy
· Helpful resources and support available

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the field of reproductive psychiatry and the importance of women's specific mental health care.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to apply a risk-risk assessment to determine the most favorable treatment plan for a pregnant or breastfeeding patient.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to apply knowledge regarding the screening, assessment and treatment plan for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders and ADHD.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to recognize the importance of advocacy for women's mental health, understand how to collaborate across medical specialties, and determine where to find reputable resources for clinicians and patients.
