While benzodiazepines can be highly effective in managing symptoms, they are often viewed as addictive and dangerous, leading many patients to avoid seeking treatment altogether. This session will explore the stigma associated with the use of benzodiazepines in the treatment of anxiety and other mental health disorders.
The discussion will delve into the question of whether the pendulum has swung too far in terms of the stigma surrounding benzodiazepine use. Participants will examine the risks and benefits of these medications, as well as alternative treatment options, in order to gain a more nuanced understanding of their role in mental health care. Through open dialogue and the sharing of personal experiences, the session aims to challenge common misconceptions and promote a more compassionate, evidence-based approach to treatment.
